Work & Money
Privacy policy
Short version: the numbers you type into our calculators stay in your browser. We don't show ads yet; the advertising sections describe what will apply once we do.
Who we are
This policy covers Work & Money at workmoneyguide.com, run by the Work & Money team. For anything about your privacy, email contact@workmoneyguide.com.
The numbers you enter
Our calculators run entirely in your web browser. The salaries, balances, tax figures and other numbers you type are not sent to us and are not stored by us, and they are never shared with advertisers.
- Shared links: if you use "Copy link to these numbers", your inputs are placed in the link after the
#sign. Browsers don't send that part of a link to web servers, so we don't receive it, but anyone you send the link to can see the numbers in it. - Saved scenarios: "Save on this device" stores the scenario in your own browser's local storage. It never reaches us; you can delete it on the Saved scenarios page or by clearing your browser's site data.
- Public data files and site search: some tools load public wage tables from our site (the request names only the public file), and site search runs in your browser. What you type isn't sent to us.
- Embedded calculators: our calculators embedded on other websites work the same way, and we don't show ads inside them.
If you email us
We receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. We don't add you to mailing lists, and we don't sell or share your email. Ask us to delete your messages at any time.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
To keep the tools free, this site may show ads served by Google AdSense. When ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info (and, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu).
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- If you opt out of personalized ads, you may still see ads, based on the page you're reading rather than your history.
When ads are shown, visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent, through a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform (Google's Privacy & messaging), before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used. You'll be able to change your choice at any time from the privacy link it provides. Google may also allow certified third-party ad vendors to serve ads here; the consent message lists them, and Google publishes its list of ad technology providers.
Ads are labelled, placed away from calculator forms and results, and never use the numbers you type.
Cookies and similar technologies
- Strictly necessary: our content delivery and security provider, Cloudflare, may set
__cf_bm(expires after 30 minutes of inactivity) to tell people from bots, andcf_clearanceafter a security check. They protect the site and aren't used for advertising. - Advertising: when ads are shown, Google and its partners may set or read cookies, or use similar identifiers, to serve, measure and limit the frequency of ads, and to personalize them where you allow it.
- Your device only: saved scenarios use your browser's local storage, which stays on your device.
We don't use analytics trackers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculators work without them.
Server logs and Cloudflare
Like any website, our hosting provider's servers and Cloudflare automatically process basic technical information when pages are requested, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, and is kept only as long as needed for that.
Your choices and rights
- Personalized ads: turn them off in Google's Ads Settings, or decline them in the consent message where one is shown.
- Cookies: block or clear them in your browser.
- U.S. state privacy rights: depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states), you may have rights to know, access, correct or delete personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We don't sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies may count as "sharing" or targeted advertising under some of these laws: you can opt out through Google's Ads Settings or your browser, and when ads are live we'll show Google's U.S. state privacy message with a "Do not sell or share" link.
- Europe and the UK: you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent; we rely on your consent for personalized ads and on legitimate interests for running and securing the site. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
To make a request, email contact@workmoneyguide.com. We'll respond within the time the law requires.
Children
The site is for adults making work and money decisions. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes and contact
We'll update this policy when our practices change and show the date at the top. Questions? email contact@workmoneyguide.com.
