Work & Money

About Work & Money

Free, independent tools for the money side of work — built to show their working.

Last updated October 18, 2026

Work & Money helps people make better work and money decisions: converting pay, estimating paychecks, comparing job offers, and weighing the time and cost of commuting, relocating or retraining. We currently offer 72 tools, salary data for hundreds of occupations from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and in-depth guides.

What makes us different

Show the working

Every result shows its formula, inputs and calculation version. Every statistic names its source and period.

Unknown is not zero

Blank inputs are listed as unknown and left out of totals — never quietly treated as $0.

No verdicts

We separate guaranteed pay from targets and estimates, and we don't tell you which job to take.

Private by design

Calculators run in your browser. We don't store the numbers you type.

How the site is funded

Our tools are free to use, with no sign-up. To pay for them, the site may show advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are labelled, placed away from calculator forms and results, and never change a calculation. Advertisers have no say in what we write, which tools we build or what any result shows. See our disclaimer and privacy policy for how ads work.

Independence

We don't accept payment to rank or recommend employers, products or services, and we don't currently use affiliate links. If that changes, affiliate links will be clearly disclosed on the page where they appear.
